Over the past 15 years, I have started to see a slight reduction in clients wanting to botox or use fillers to re model their faces. As many of you who know my work, I have always tried to encourage a natural healthy skin and a more positive note to aging well, although I do understand not everyone likes to see our faces change over time with more lines and loss of firmness. Myself included. So my focus will always be combining high energy treatments with hands on techniques as carried out in my ‘Stacking’ Facial.
However, I now see a growth in clients wanting ‘Skin boosters’ to improve the appearance of their skin by targeting areas of concern such as under the eyes, necks, back of hands and full face.

SO WHAT ARE THEY?

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments from salmon/trout gonads, and go through a rigorous process whereby they remove all the proteins and lipids, so that you get the purest form of polynucleotide. They are extremely versatile and can be used under the eyes for darkness, thin crepey skin, lines, scars and even reducing redness.
Profhilo is a brand of high quality non cross linked 100% Hyaluronic acid. This acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, responsible for keeping our skin plump and hydrated. With age this decreases and results in a loss of firmness and dull dry skins.
Both are injectables that can be administered into the superficial to mid dermal layers of the skin. Depending on the brand used or cannula approach, the product can work slightly deeper. The difference is that both are non to very low cross linked, unlike fillers that are cross linked and give volume.
Both work at a cellular level to stimulate fibroblasts, which increase collagen and elastin production and improves skin quality
They are non immunogenic and biocompatible meaning they are well – tolerated by the body.
WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
They both work on different levels and promote different skin rejuvenating results. See below for points to consider. Of course Lido will only carry out the treatments once a full consultation and understanding has been carried out, but its useful to have some insight.
Polynucleotides
Targets – thin crepey skin, rhytids (wrinkles), dark circles, scars and redness.
Profhilo
Targets – Lack of firmness and dry dull skin.
In my practice I do like to stack my energy and facial treatments however these bio stimulators are carried out as a stand alone, to be safe and effective. Some clients will benefit from having Profhilo to give a glow to the whole face and treat their thin crepey skin under their eyes with the Polynucleotides. Each client is considered before the procedure and I am now seeing the tide change for wanting to look ‘filled’ to wanting their own skin to look as healthy as possible with glow and movement.
Hope to see you soon
